2021 Vision Award Winners: Inspiring People

Congratulations to the winners of the 2021 Katz, Sapper & Miller Vision Awards! These awards, now in their third year, recognize KSM employees whose work inside and outside of KSM exemplifies excellence in one of the three pillars of our Vision – People, Clients, and Community.

Nominations were solicited from all employees, and the winners were selected by a committee consisting of partners and firm leaders. This year, six deserving honorees – two in each category – were announced during a December all-firm virtual meeting.

2021 Inspiring People Winners: Karen Lewis and Amy Zimmer

The Inspiring People Award recognizes KSM employees who are champions and leaders of our people. The criteria for this award include championing people initiatives and programs, spending a significant amount of time developing people, and inspiring KSM and our people to be better through courageous feedback, innovative ideas, and diversity of thought.

Congratulations to Karen Lewis and Amy Zimmer, winners of the Inspiring People Award!

Karen was nominated by Katherine Malarsky, a KSM partner and leader of the firm’s diversity, equity, and inclusion initiative, called INSPIRE, for her work in structuring and organizing KSM’s first employee resource group (ERG). The purpose of this first group is to help KSM’s fully remote workers across the U.S. connect and thrive in their roles. In addition to getting the group off the ground, Karen is deeply involved in planning events and programming for KSM’s remote employees, significantly impacting a growing percentage of KSM’s people.

Amy was nominated by Heather Judy, a director with KSM Location Advisors, for the significant amount of time and effort Amy spends informally teaching and mentoring other KSM employees. In her role as a director with KSM’s State & Local Tax Group, Amy provides technical expertise on state and local tax issues to colleagues across the firm who know they can rely on her for clear explanations and well thought-out solutions.
