George Batalis Joins KSM as Managing Director of Healthcare Consulting
INDIANAPOLIS – Katz, Sapper & Miller, a leading consulting, tax, and audit firm, is pleased to announce that George Batalis has joined the firm as managing director of healthcare consulting in its Healthcare Resources Group.
Having spent his nearly 25-year career focused on healthcare and consulting, including tenures in national accounting and consulting firms, Batalis brings to KSM executive-level leadership and expertise that includes creating and executing healthcare mergers and acquisitions strategy, developing payer/provider value-based contracting and risk-sharing arrangements, designing physician compensation models, and consulting on financial and operational issues for various specialties, with a commitment specifically to behavioral health.
“With George’s leadership and wide-ranging expertise in healthcare consulting and business development, we look forward to expanding the services we offer to the complete spectrum of healthcare organizations,” said Steve Warner, Healthcare Resources Group partner. “KSM has a strong, well-regarded healthcare practice, and with the addition of George, we’re excited to continue to build upon its current growth trajectory and take our practice to the next level.”
With the hire of Batalis, KSM continues to invest in its healthcare practice. In November 2019, KSM acquired Caskey & Daily, P.C., an Indianapolis firm that specialized in serving the tax, accounting, and consulting needs of the healthcare community.
“With its strong people-focused culture, solid reputation, and commitment to exceptional client service, KSM is a great fit for the next step in my career,” said Batalis. “Working with clients on innovative solutions is one aspect of my career that I have enjoyed most, and I look forward to helping clients adapt and grow during this pivotal time in healthcare.”
Prior to joining the firm, Batalis most recently served as behavioral health business development and integration officer for Optum, a pharmacy benefit manager and care services group. In this role, he was responsible for operating and growing the behavioral healthcare delivery business both organically and through mergers and acquisitions. Additional career highlights include serving as the Florida healthcare market leader for a Big 4 accounting firm and an executive leader for two national healthcare consulting companies.
A certified public accountant, Batalis earned a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting and finance from Indiana University. Originally from Noblesville, IN, Batalis will be based in Florida’s Tampa Bay area.
