KSM’s 12th Annual Community Day: Service That Strengthens Communities

On Friday, Nov. 22, KSM marked its 12^th annual Community Day, reflecting the firm’s enduring commitment to making a meaningful difference in the communities where we live and work. More than 530 employees took part in this day of service, contributing their time and talents at 101 sites across the U.S.

Continuing Our Commitment to Purposeful Impact

KSM’s community engagement philosophy is rooted in the belief that strong communities are the foundation for success, and it’s our responsibility to give back meaningfully. Community Day is more than an event; it’s an expression of our core values and the collective impact we can achieve by working together.

In just one day, KSMers collaborated to make a tangible difference by supporting organizations that uplift individuals and communities. From stocking food pantries to assembling holiday care packages, the projects reflected the firm’s focus on creating lasting, positive change.

Community Day Highlights: Service With Purpose

KSMers embraced their roles as community builders, making a measurable impact through acts of service.

In Indianapolis, teams tackled key projects at 17 sites including:

• St. Vincent de Paul: Volunteers helped more than 800 families access food ahead of Thanksgiving.
• Meals on Wheels: Teams packed 65 hygiene kits for low-income clients and prepared emergency food kits for the winter months.
• Brooke’s Place: Volunteers assembled 200 treat bags for children and caregivers grieving the loss of loved ones during the holidays.
• Horizon House: KSMers prepared and distributed hundreds of sandwiches to homeless neighbors in downtown Indianapolis.
• The Julian Center: More than 40 KSMers refreshed a large shelter space, creating a welcoming environment for women and children.
• MLK Center: Volunteers painted three rooms, tackling much-needed projects for the hardworking Center staff.
• Indy Reads: Teams packed 3,200 fundraising letters and wrapped surprise books and puzzles for the bookstore’s holiday initiatives.

Beyond Indianapolis:

• Cincinnati, OH: KSMers made a significant impact by volunteering at five local sites:
  • Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Cincinnati: Volunteers supported youth programs, helping ensure a positive environment for kids to learn and grow.
  • Tikkun Farm: Teams worked hard mulching, harvesting crops, and cleaning out the barn to support the farm’s community outreach initiatives.
  • St. Vincent de Paul: Volunteers sorted coats for the organization’s coat drive, ensuring families stay warm during the colder months.
  • Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Cincinnati: KSMers painted and revitalized one of the organization’s new facilities to provide a welcoming space for families in need.
  • Stepping Stones: Volunteers joined participants in recreation activities, ranging from art to wellness, while assisting staff by socializing with clients, distributing supplies, and cleaning activity spaces.
• Evansville, IN: KSMers volunteered with the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Ohio Valley, painting and touching up the facilities, cleaning recently vacated rooms, and landscaping outside.
• Fort Wayne, IN: Volunteers prepared holiday packages benefiting more than 500 children through SCAN’s holiday program.
• New York City: KSMers partnered with Project Renewal to distribute festive treats and handmade cards, spreading cheer during the holiday season.
• Remote: For KSM’s remote colleagues, Community Day offered a chance to connect with colleagues while engaging in acts of service tailored to their local communities.
