Mark Benninghoff Joins KSM as a Director of Healthcare Consulting
INDIANAPOLIS – Katz, Sapper & Miller, a leading advisory, tax, and audit firm, is pleased to announce that Mark Benninghoff has joined the firm as a director of healthcare consulting in its Healthcare Resources Group.
With more than 25 years of healthcare industry experience, both in consulting and in physician practice management, Benninghoff brings deep experience helping health systems, hospitals, and physician groups improve their operational effectiveness. His expertise includes revenue cycle assessment and optimization, workflow optimization, physician practice operational improvement, practice onboarding and integration, and provider enrollment.
“Mark is an outstanding addition to our team,” said George Batalis, managing director of healthcare consulting. “His experience, knowledge, and focus on operational effectiveness will help best position our clients to meet their operational and financial goals and stay ahead of the competition.”
With the hire of Benninghoff, KSM continues to build a deep bench of healthcare consultants within its Healthcare Resources Group. Batalis joined KSM in August 2020 to lead and grow the practice’s healthcare consulting service into a multi-faceted provider offering. Since then, the team has grown rapidly, recruiting several key hires who bring deep healthcare strategy, operations, and consulting experience. KSM’s healthcare consulting services are complemented by the firm’s healthcare tax and accounting services and fair market value and valuation services.
“My passion is assisting providers and healthcare organizations in delivering high-quality care and service to their patients in the most efficient and cost-effective manner,” said Benninghoff. “I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to facilitate great results for KSM’s clients as a member of the firm’s healthcare consulting team.”
Prior to joining the firm, Benninghoff worked as a director at Guidehouse, where he helped both academic and integrated delivery systems with a range of physician practice issues related to revenue cycle, access, operations, strategy, and finances. Benninghoff has also previously served as a healthcare executive, including executive vice president of physician services for University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and chief operations officer for physician enterprise at Valley Health (Winchester, Virginia). He began his career as an accountant at PwC.
Benninghoff earned a BA in accounting and business administration from Thiel College and an MBA from the University of Pittsburgh. Based in Pittsburgh, he is a sought-after speaker for national and regional healthcare association meetings and conferences.
