Donna Niesen is the partner-in-charge of Katz, Sapper & Miller’s State & Local Tax Group. She helps keep clients up to date on the multitude of income and sales tax rules and requirements in all 50 states, guiding them in the right direction as they address the complex issues that emerge on both the state and local levels.
Prior to joining the firm, Donna spent eight years specializing in state and local tax consulting with two Big Four firms, focusing on multistate income and sales tax issues. While she serves clients in all industries, Donna has significant experience in the manufacturing and distribution, financial services, life sciences, technology, retail, healthcare, transportation, and logistics industries.
Donna earned a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Marian College. She is licensed to practice in Indiana and Arizona.
Donna is a member of the American Institute of CPAs and the Indiana CPA Society (INCPAS), where she serves on the Tax Resource Advisory Council. Additionally, Donna serves on the Indiana Manufacturers Association’s Tax Committee, the Indiana Chamber of Commerce Tax Policy Committee, and the Advisory Council to the Commissioner of the Indiana Department of Revenue.
Donna received INCPAS’ 2023 Advocacy Award in recognition of her active involvement in key committees and pivotal roles in drafting tax legislation. She was named by the Indiana Chamber of Commerce as a 2019 Samuel C. Schlosser Volunteer of the Year in recognition of the time and expertise she has given to the Chamber for the benefit of all Hoosier businesses.
