George Batalis is the partner-in-charge of healthcare consulting with Katz, Sapper & Miller’s Healthcare Resources Group. George helps healthcare organizations confidently move forward and ahead of their competition by guiding them through strategic planning, mergers and acquisitions, and financial analysis.
George has more than 20 years of healthcare industry experience in executive and leadership roles. He is experienced in driving growth strategy and deals across diversified healthcare delivery models and consulting practices. George’s expertise includes creating and executing healthcare mergers and acquisitions strategy; consulting on the strategic, financial, and operational direction of health systems and physician groups; implementing hospital and physician alignment models; developing payer/provider value-based and risk-sharing arrangements; and designing physician compensation models.
Prior to joining the firm, George served as behavioral health business development and integration officer for Optum, a division of UnitedHealth Group. In this role, he was responsible for operating and growing the behavioral healthcare delivery business both organically and through mergers and acquisitions. George has also previously served in leadership roles as the Florida healthcare market leader for a Big Four accounting firm and an executive leader for mergers and acquisitions at a national healthcare consulting company.
George received a full scholarship to play football at Indiana University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting and finance from the Kelley School of Business.
George is a member of the American Institute of CPAs, the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Healthcare Financial Management Association, and the American College of Healthcare Executives.
