Stephen Royster is a partner in Katz, Sapper & Miller’s State & Local Tax Group. Stephen helps clients navigate the multistate tax landscape by advising on state tax law changes, ensuring they are efficiently structured and ultimately protecting their bottom line. Prior to joining KSM, Stephen worked for a Big Four and a top 10 accounting firm, specializing in state and local taxes at each. He has extensive experience with state tax refund reviews, restructuring planning, analysis of complex state tax issues, and multistate tax compliance.
Stephen’s deep knowledge of state and local taxes in all 50 states enables him to effectively consult with multistate clients across the country and in many industries, including manufacturing and distribution, financial services, life sciences, retail, transportation, logistics, and others.
Stephen earned a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Butler University.
Stephen is a member of the American Institute of CPAs and the Indiana CPA Society. He also serves on the Indiana Manufacturers Association’s Tax Committee.
Stephen was a finalist for Junior Achievement of Central Indiana’s Best and Brightest award in 2020.
