Tom Laine

Tom Laine is a director in KSM’s Transaction Advisory Services Group and is based in the firm’s Cincinnati office. Tom helps private equity firms and strategic investors navigate deals through financial due diligence, quality of earnings and working capital analyses, and consulting on transaction-related matters.

Tom specializes in strategic financial and transaction advisory services involving capital growth initiatives such as mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and operational reorganizations. He has extensive experience leading cross-functional teams and executing both buy-side and sell-side M&A transactions for public and private corporations, private equity sponsors, business owners, and entrepreneurs.

Prior to joining KSM, Tom served as the director of transaction advisory services for a top accounting firm, where he managed the department, led numerous engagements, and spearheaded strategic initiatives. His extensive experience includes senior roles at a Big Four accounting firm, where he provided financial due diligence, quality of earnings, working capital, and cash flow optimization expertise to clients across various industries, including consumer products, energy, manufacturing, distribution, and technology. He also previously worked in corporate M&A for a large consumer products company and began his career providing assurance services at a top-tier accounting firm. Throughout his career, Tom has advised more than 200 companies, including Fortune 500 corporations and private equity clients.

Additionally, Tom is a veteran who proudly served in the United States Marine Corps – Forces Reserve, Communications Company, Cincinnati.
